hey christopher, sorry to get back to you late. I think the best season to visit Japan would be either Spring or Autumn.
In the spring time, you can see the cherry blossoms in a full bloom. In the Autumn, you get to see the color of the leaves changing beautifully :)) Just so you know summer is too hot/humid so don't ever visit Japan in summer time :(
